Connect Codex
Codex reads AGENTS.md files and can keep memories of its own, on one computer. Add Saudad once, and Codex shares one memory with Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and your other agents.

Most apps sign in with the address alone. Some need an API key: create one in your dashboard, under Spaces and apps, with Create API key.
With a key, send the header Authorization: Bearer <your key>.
The ChatGPT desktop app, the Codex CLI and the IDE extension share this setup.
Run these in your terminal:
Or, with your key in SAUDAD_API_KEY, add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:
How Codex remembers today
Updated , from the vendor’s own pages; each source shows the day it was read.
Codex reads AGENTS.md files before it does any work: a global one in your Codex home folder (~/.codex), then the project’s, so each task starts with your standing instructions. Together they’re capped at 32 KiB by default.[1]
Codex also has memories of its own, in a local store. They’re off by default, live under ~/.codex/memories on each machine, and OpenAI suggests treating them as a helpful recall layer, not the only source for rules that must always apply.[2]
Both stay with Codex, and its memories with one computer. Saudad is one memory that Codex reads and saves to as a remote server, signing in with OAuth or using an API key, and that Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and your other agents share. The Codex CLI and IDE extension read the same setup in ~/.codex/config.toml.[3]
Questions
Does Saudad replace AGENTS.md?
No. Keep AGENTS.md for a project’s instructions. Saudad holds what you want Codex and your other agents to remember across every project.
Do I need an API key?
Usually not: codex mcp login signs in with your Saudad account. If your setup needs a key, create one in your dashboard under Spaces and apps, and put it in SAUDAD_API_KEY.
Does ChatGPT on the web use this setup?
No. OpenAI notes that ChatGPT on the web doesn’t read your local Codex configuration. It connects to Saudad separately, and only on some plans: ChatGPT on its Business, Enterprise and Edu plans (read-only on Pro). See its own steps.
Has Saudad been tested with Codex?
Not on this build yet. We mark an app as tested only once a test on the current build is recorded, and the connect page says so.
What does Saudad cost?
€9 a month billed yearly, or €12 monthly, VAT included, after a 14-day free trial with no card.
