Saudad

Saudad vs the memory built into your agents

Built-in memory is free, needs no setup and works well inside its own app. It stays in that app, and for Claude Code and Codex on one computer. Saudad is one memory that every agent you connect shares, organised into spaces you can see and edit; it costs money, and each agent takes a few steps to connect.

Where built-in memory is the better choice

  • You use one app. Its own memory already knows what that app needs.
  • You want nothing to set up and nothing to pay.
  • You want what only the app can do: Claude can search your past chats on paid plans, and ChatGPT can reference your past conversations, depending on your plan and settings.[1][2]

Where Saudad is the better choice

  • You use more than one agent, and you’re tired of telling each one the same things.
  • You work on more than one computer: Claude Code’s auto memory and Codex’s memories stay where they were made.
  • You want to see, correct, undo and export what’s remembered in one place, organised by client or project.[4][5]

Which to choose

Keep built-in memory alone if…

  • You use one agent, most of the time.
  • You don’t need to see everything in one place.

Add Saudad if…

  • You use two or more agents, or one agent on two computers.
  • You want one memory you can see, edit and take with you.

Using both

They don’t conflict. Each app’s memory keeps working, and Saudad adds the memory they share. Keep CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md for instructions that belong with a project.

Questions

Why trust a comparison written by Saudad?

Don’t take it on trust: every fact about each app links each app’s own pages, with the date we read them, and we say where each app is the better choice. If something here is out of date, the source link is the place to check.

Does Saudad switch off Claude’s or ChatGPT’s memory?

No. Both keep working. Saudad is an extra memory your agents read and save to.

Will Saudad know what my apps already remember?

Not at first: it starts empty and fills as your agents save what matters. You can ask an agent to save what it already knows about you.

Which apps can use Saudad?

Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw and other apps that connect to remote servers, and ChatGPT on its Business, Enterprise and Edu plans (read-only on Pro). The connect page has each app’s steps.

What does Saudad cost?

€9 a month billed yearly, or €12 monthly, VAT included, after a 14-day free trial with no card.
